Josée Brouillette is an Early Literacy Specialist at the Parent Resource Centre. In this role, she promotes and further strengthens the continuum of early literacy and early learning by cultivating awareness about the importance of early literacy and learning in the community. She also provides support, services, develops and delivers customized training and supporting resource materials, that aligns with Ontario’s Early Years and Child Care Policy Framework, Full Day Early Learning Curriculum, play-based learning, the College of ECE’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and the four foundations of How Does Learning Happen?  In partnership with early year’s programs in the community, she supports early literacy initiatives and programming using a variety of different models of program and service delivery to better meet the diverse needs of the families and of the communities in which they live.

Josée has a unique educational and work background as she has a 3 year Diploma in Public Relations and a 2 year Diploma in Early Childhood Education. With 15 years of experience in various areas of Communications, Human Resources and Recruitment, Project Management, Fundraising and Event Planning, she is comfortable working in various client centered environments such as private industry, non-for-profit, education, and government. Josée also has 5 years experience with Adult Learning and Education with a multicultural clientele.

A member of the Order of Educators in Ontario, her passion for the Early Childhood Education profession has motivated her to help shape future professionals as an alumnus of La Cité, by developing course content for some of the On-line Early Childhood Education Program, and by teaching in the On-line Early Childhood Education Program for the last 3 years. She is currently teaching part-time in Early Childhood Education Program at La Cité.

Her previous employment experiences in Early Childhood Education include: Early Childhood Educator in the Full-Day Program for the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, Program Coordinator and Trainer for l’Association francophone à l’éducation des services à l’enfance de l’Ontario (AFESEO),Early Childhood Educator for MIFO, Content Developer in the On-line Early Childhood Education Program at La Cité, Tutor-Teacher in the Early Childhood Education Program at La Cité and Teacher in the full-time Early Childhood Education Program at La Cité.

In her leisure time, Josée enjoys sewing and various crafts, reading and walking in nature with her dog Moki.
