COFFEE CHATS

Circle of Security – Supporting Secure Attachment with Your Child                                                                   

We will explore the Circle of Security model that supports parents and caregivers to provide a secure base and safe haven for their children. It is a learning tool for parents and caregivers to identify understand and support their children’s attachment and exploratory needs.

Understanding your Child through a Self-Regulation Lens

In this coffee chat, we will look at brain development and the importance of positive experiences. We will explore the foundations of Stuart Shankers Self-Regulation program including: the Definition of Self-Regulation & the 5 Domains of Stress; the Effects of Too Much Stress; 5 Steps of Self-Regulation and how to apply Self-Reg in our everyday lives with children.

Five Steps for Brain Building - Serve and Return

Child-adult relationships that are responsive and attentive- with lots of back and forth interactions - build a strong foundation in a child’s brain for future learning, development and health. This is called “serve and return”. We will explore five, easy, everyday interactions you can do with your child to support healthy brain development in your child.

WORKSHOPS

SUPPORTING YOUR ANXIOUS CHILD   Oct 03, 10, 17 6:30-8:30 pm

Join PRC’s Early Learning Specialist, Joanne Boyd for a 3-week workshop series on supporting anxious children. In this workshop series, we will define anxiety and learn how it manifests itself in children. We will explore strategies to help children develop positive thinking habits and coping skills. Suitable for parents / caregivers of children aged 3 to 12 years.

TERRIFIC TODDLERS Workshop Week #1 Oct 16 6:30-8:30 pm

Join PRC’s Early Learning Specialist, Susan Duke in a discussion about toddler development and how it relates to your toddler’s daily routines and rhythms. We will explore topics such as developing good sleep habits, healthy eating and potty training. Suitable for parents / caregivers of children aged 12 months – 3 years.

Note: Participants are not required to register for both part 1 & 2 but you are welcome to attend both.

 

TERRIFIC TODDLERS   Workshop Week # 2 Oct 23 6:30-8:30 pm

Join PRC’s Early Learning Specialist, Susan Duke in a discussion about toddler development and how it relates to your toddler’s behavior.  We will explore topics such as communication strategies, positive discipline and encouraging cooperation.  Suitable for parents / caregivers of children aged 12 months – 3 years.

Note: Participants are not required to register for both part 1 & 2 but you are welcome to attend both.

 

KIDS HAVE STRESS TOO!  3 week workshop series Nov 5, 12, 19 6:30-8:30 pm

Join PRC’s Early Learning Specialist, Susan Duke as we explore how stress affects children’s behavior. Learn to identify signs of stress in your child and acquire stress management techniques, which will last a lifetime. Suitable for parents / caregivers of children aged 1 to 12 years.
